Puppy Tails First Steps – 4 week course; $110
This is a 4-week course for puppies 8-20 weeks old, concentrating on socialization, proper play with other pups (and family members), learning house-breaking techniques, getting started on basic training and other skills to get your puppy off on the perfect first steps into this big world. Some of the commands we will cover are; sit, down, wait, come and off to name a few.
This is a fun and exciting time for your pup. It’s the perfect age to learn how to understand boundaries set by you in your home and out in the world.
There will be off-leash play during class time. Please bring your pup to class with a basic snap or buckle puppy collar on and a 6 ft. leash. NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES PLEASE.
Prior to the first day of class, we must receive written evidence that your puppy has had it’s first set of shots completed and a clear fecal.
Introduction to Basic Obedience – 6 Week Course; $165
Do you have a new dog with no training under his or her belt or a dog that has been with the family for quite some time but could use some help with his or her house manners? Is your puppy still in need of more guidance after its initial puppy socialization class? Are you feeling frustrated every time you walk out the door with your dog, dreading the walk HE or SHE will take you on? Are you embarrassed by the way your dog behaves when he or she sees other dogs on your walks? If so, our Intro to Basic Obedience class is the right class for you. Introduction to Basic covers all of those issues and more! This class is great for recently adopted dogs, pups that have just completed a puppy class and as an obedience refresher for older dogs.
We teach the basics of leadership, fairness and trust. We will use gentle reward-based training to establish a clear line of communication between you and your dog. We will cover basic commands such as sit, down, stay, wait, walk nice on a leash, wait at the door and the recall command. We will also address any behavior issues like digging, barking, jumping up, mouthing, etc..
Introduction to Basic Obedience is NOT just training for dogs; it is training for people too! We want to be sure you have the tools to keep your dog working at a manageable level for the rest of it’s life with you. Remember, your dog should be an asset to your family but not a liability.
Prerequisite: No prior training needed. Dogs must be 5 months of age or older. Prior to the first day of class, we must receive written evidence that vaccines are current for Bordetella, Rabies and DHLPP.
Please note: If your dog has aggression issues, our Lead Trainer must make an evaluation of your dog before the first day of class to determine if this class is appropriate. Please contact our Lead Trainer to schedule that evaluation.
Class Size: Each class is limited to 10 students.
Basic Obedience 2 – 6 Week Course; $165
Basic Obedience 2 is the next step in Canine Education after our Intro. to Basic class. We will approach more challenging training environments around the Cascade Kennels property and also do a field trip to use our skills out in public. Refining the commands and learning more is what it’s all about. Dogs love to learn and keeping their brains stimulated through obedience work is one of the best jobs you can give them. We work extensively on leash control (leash walking leading to off leash work), recall work, meet and greet in public and teaching your dog to settle at your feet while you have a relaxing conversation outside. We encourage all of our students to strive for the best balanced dog they can have through a strong and loving leadership bond.
Please note: If your dog has aggression issues, our Lead Trainer must make an evaluation of your dog before the first day of class to determine if this class is appropriate. Please contact our Lead Trainer, Maggie Gonty, to schedule that evaluation.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed Introduction to Basic Obedience or obtain permission from the instructor. Prior to the first day of class, we must receive written evidence that vaccines are current for Bordetella, Rabies and DHLPP.
Class Size: Each class is limited to 10 students.
