We recommend you tour our facility prior to your arrival date so that you can see for yourself that our facilities are clean and comfortable. We’re happy to show you how everything works, where your pet will be staying, and answer all of your questions. We offer tours, without prior notice, anytime our lobby is open because we are proud of the emphasis we place on cleanliness and upkeep.
The neighborhood in which Cascade Kennels is located is zoned for residential use. Therefore, to obtain a building permit to build our current facility, we were required to obtain a Conditional Use Permit which required that we obtain the support of the neighboring homeowners. Our neighbors requested that our lobby be closed to the public on Sundays to give them one day a week without the extra traffic created by our customers. Of course, our permit does allow us to have our staff on duty 365 days a year to care for the animals.
We request vaccines be administered at least 10 days prior to your arrival. This will allow the vaccine to develop effectiveness and will give you time to watch for any adverse reaction the vaccines may cause.
Dogs: DHLPP (corona is highly recommended), rabies, and Bordatella. (Note: We prefer the oral or injectable Bordatella vaccine. We ask that the intranasal form of Bordatella vaccine NOT be administered if your dog will arrive within 10 days).
Cats: FVRCP, rabies, and leukemia
We prefer that you have your veterinarian fax your pet’s shot records or call us prior to your arrival date so that we may prepare our records prior to your arrival.

We encourage you to bring your pet’s food from home. We will however, provide Kirkland Chicken and Rice or lamb and rice for dogs and Kirkland Adult Maintenance for cats if you do not bring your pet’s own food. If you feed canned or specialty foods, please bring those along. We have a refrigerator/freezer to accommodate specialty foods requiring refrigeration. If you are boarding an exotic pet please bring enough food to last through your pet’s stay.
We recommend you bring your pet’s own food to reduce the number of changes from home to the kennel. Keeping your pet’s diet consistent will reduce the chance of digestive upsets. You are welcome to bring in the food in the original packaging or the container you keep it in at home, so that bringing it along is simple and easy. Remember to bring enough food to last their entire visit with us.
We strongly recommend that you bring a bed or blanket of adequate size since your bedding will carry familiar scents which will help ease your pet’s transition. We also allow toys, treats, and anything you feel will make your pet more comfortable during their stay. We do, however, request that you not bring rawhide chews or toys smaller than 2 inches in size as those things easily enter and clog our septic system.
We will contact you or your designated alternate in case of serious problems. We also keep your veterinarian’s name and phone number in our records so that we may contact them for major emergencies and consultations. If something happens after your veterinarian’s office is closed, we will transport your pet to a 24 hour emergency vet hospital in Kirkland.
We have arranged our system to follow the same model as most hotels and resorts. We have set a 12:00 noon check-out time. While our guests may stay beyond 12:00pm, charges for an additional day will be added to your bill unless you have made prior arrangements for your pet to receive a bath or groom on its last day.
We have separated the charges for each of our services for the convenience of those who want to minimize their costs.
We have created a very open, active, social environment for boarding your pet. Taking advantage of our exercise programs provides extra, high quality, one-on-one time for your pet and helps break up your pet’s day.
Our interior kennel design allows dogs to relieve themselves comfortably and sanitarily whenever needed. We closely monitor each dogs’ potty habits and, if necessary, will add two short “potty walks” each day. Potty walk charges are $6.00 per day but are waived for their first visit as we will be getting to know their needs and habits.
We offer a group playtime option where your dog will have fun playing with other dogs for at least three hours in our daycare room. The group playtime option requires some additional steps to enroll your dog for Daycare prior to arriving for boarding.
We prefer that each of our feline guests receive time in our play area to stretch out and have an environmental change. However, some cats prefer to keep to themselves and would rather not engage in play time. We will adapt to whichever choice your cat selects.
We prefer to keep cats separated at all times. It has been our experience that cats tend to avoid group socialization. Separation also helps prevent any cross-contamination of cat illnesses.
Unlike many boarding facilities, our prices do not increase over the holidays. We offer the same reasonable pricing year round, regardless of whether or not it is a holiday. We understand that plans can change, so instead of locking our clients into expensive, non-refundable deposits or cancellation policies, we have a system of checking in to confirm that you still need your reservation as the holiday approaches. We send out confirmation emails to all of our clients in the weeks leading up to their visit over the holidays. If you have a holiday reservation, it is very important to reply to our email to confirm your reservation so that we hold it. If we cannot reach you by email, we will call you as well to make sure we get in touch.
